Independence Day (4th of July
fireworks):
Come and enjoy the fireworks. Bellevue has
fireworks on July 4th to celebrate Independence Day. This is
a long-standing tradition in our community and a good time is had by
all.
The fireworks will begin at dusk,
normally between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m. They are set off between the
Bellevue Middle School and the Bellevue Elementary
School on the athletic fields.
The show lasts approximately one hour and the parking is free and
plentiful. Come and take part in a small town celebration of this
wonderful country we call home.
Bellevue Car &
Truck Show & Street Dance:
The Bellevue
Car & Truck Show is an annual event held on the second weekend in July.
The event begins with a bang on Friday night with a street dance that
takes place on Bellevue’s downtown streets. This dance starts at 8:00
p.m. and runs until 12:00 midnight.
The dance
is followed by the show on Saturday. People come from all over to
display cars, trucks, and motorcycles in downtown Bellevue. There is a
DJ at the event helping to set the mood with tunes, door prizes are
provided, and also place awards are given in each category. This day is
a community wide event that encompasses not only the Bellevue Athletic
Boosters, who organize the show, but all community businesses, civic
groups, and organizations.
There are
also community wide garage sales that last all weekend long. This
weekend offers something for everyone so join us for the fun.
Community
Wide Garage Sales-
There are
community wide garage sales on the second weekend in July. This is the
same weekend as the Bellevue Car & Truck Show. Garage Sale Permits are
not required for this weekend. The Village does compile a list
of known garage sales that we hand out on Friday with a map of the
Village. If you are having a garage sale this weekend and would like to
be included please contact Bellevue Village Hall at 269-763-9571.
Bellevue’s
Dancing Crane Pow Wow “Honoring the Medicine of the Crane”:
Bellevue has a teaching pow wow that teaches Native American
traditions. This pow wow is the Bellevue Dancing Crane Pow Wow
“Honoring the Medicine of the Crane.” It is held on the last weekend of
July with activities taking place on Saturday and Sunday. As the event
approaches a link to the flyer will be posted here and under the what’s
happening section of the Village’s website.
You can expect an educational experience while attending this event,
learning how people lived in this country before many of our families
arrived. There are ceremonies held with dancers in Native American
regalia, storytellers telling stories, legends, and speaking of the
culture, and drums with Native American drum songs and singing. There
is also authentic Native American arts and crafts
and authentic Native American food
available at the pow wow. This is an excellent opportunity for a fun
weekend spent outdoors.
If you would like to find more information on
pow wows you may visit
www.powwows.com .
It is an excellent resource for information on the many activities you
may see and experience.
